Summer Writing Workshop for Teens

TUES., JUN 28 – THURS., JUL 14

Participants will attend six 90-minute in-person writing workshops led by Greenwich resident Daisy Florin, a teacher and published writer/editor whose debut novel, My Last Innocent Year, written using the Gateless method, will be published by Henry Holt & Co. in 2023. She is a graduate of Dartmouth College and holds a master’s degree in teaching from Bank Street College of Education. She has worked with students on their college essays since 2015.

Everyone has a story to tell and we can help you find it.
Tap into your creativity and learn how to write beautiful college essays that stand out!

During our three-week program, based on the Gateless Writing methodology, students will:

  • Master skills essential for writing a strong, authentic college application essay;

  • Write with authenticity, passion and confidence in a pressure-free, supportive, fun environment;

  • Learn how to write the kind of intimate, reflective essays college admissions officers are looking for (most high schools don’t teach this kind of writing);

  • Harness the power of their innate creativity and find the stories they were born to tell using tools and techniques that will serve them long after the college application process is done.

The workshop is open to students entering grades 10 through 12. Space is limited.

The cost is $350. There are spots reserved for low-income students who will attend free of charge. Email for more information.

The class will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 28th to July 14th from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Greenwich Library.
