About Getting Personal

Students enrolled in Getting Personal, an online class that offers step-by-step instructions on how to ace the Common App essay, complete six lessons, which include:

• 12 brainstorming and writing exercises to help you generate ideas for the Common App personal statement and the college-specific supplemental essays

• 8 bookmarks (links to helpful videos, articles, blog posts, and essays)

• 6 pro tips for writing a winning essay

The class includes a half-hour meeting via Zoom with an expert college essay coach who will offer one-on-one feedback on the first draft of the Common App personal statement.
